In 2016 my husband and I moved to Virginia from Pennsylvania. I love being outside and being surrounded by nature. My experience with growing plants was limited to houseplants and a lemon tree that I’ve had in a pot for a few years that refuses to produce fruit. The thought of landscaping an entire yard felt like an impossible task and something that I wasn’t qualified to do.  However, I was feeling incredibly powerless at the time because of the political climate. I felt like the current administration was actively destroying the environment for profit. The way I felt that I could have control was to make my corner of the world beautiful and to turn parts of my yard into certified pollinator habitat using the Xerces Society standards.

I started by planting zinnias in a pot and sunflower seeds near the house. The next thing I knew I was ripping up sod every weekend and throwing wildflower seeds about like a mad woman. I wanted to document it all in one place for myself, my family and friends so I started this blog. Enjoy!
